Allyson

Allyson

Practice Manager

Allyson Naplin was born in New Jersey, but grew up in Colorado with her parents and sister. For as long as she can remember, animals were an integral part of her life. In her role as Practice Manager, Allyson loves being able to help owners with their pets and witnessing the special relationships that develop between pets and their owners!

Allyson has been with the Wadsworth Animal Hospital team since 2005. She particularly enjoys the variety of her day to day tasks, whether it’s working with patients, spending some quiet time doing paperwork, or taking care of the plants outside.

Outside the clinic, Allyson shares her home with her 2 Great Danes, Benny and Joon. At 195 pounds, Benny is truly a gentle giant, and Joon is a feisty, petite girl who’s always ready to play. Allyson’s hobbies include working in her yard, playing with her dogs, and more recently, working on her indoor hydroponic garden.

Jaqui

Jaqui

Certified Veterinary Technician

Jaquilyn Mackey grew up in a small oil field town called Rangely in the northwest corner of Colorado. She, along with most of her family, has since relocated to the Denver area. Several years ago, a car accident ended one career and brought about this one, which Jaqui believes was truly meant to be!

It was the unique medical skill set of the veterinary industry that truly drew her in, as well as the ability to provide care and compassion for the voiceless while nurturing the human-animal bond. To her, the most inspiring animal moments are those in which the animal is the rehabilitator and the human is the patient in need of care.

Medically speaking, Jaqui enjoys drawing blood and placing catheters. Surgery is the area that intrigues her the most and keeps her on her toes. Lastly, she is fascinated by the tiny world magnified that makes up lab work. Over the years, Jaqui has seen it all, including a doctor losing her drawers in the middle of surgery. Unable to do anything about it at the time, Jaqui was tasked with covering the windows until the procedure was complete.

Jaqui has a cat named Nemo – a special needs, retired barn cat whose life now revolves around murder and food. She also has a blue tongued skink, a rehab from the Reptile Humane Society that has a love affair with snails!

Her household is a self-professed nerdy one, full of comic books, anime, video games, tabletop games, books, yarn, and plants. These interests have resulted in treasured family memories, great friendships, and entertainment that has been life changing.

Ciara

Ciara

Certified Veterinary Technician

When Ciara was younger, her dog Star passed away unexpectedly. While the experience of losing Star so suddenly was devastating, it sparked something in Ciara. She knew right then and there that she wanted to help other animals and prevent their owners from having to go through a similar situation. As a veterinary technician, Ciara gets to share her passion for animal health care while truly making a difference in the lives of people and their pets!

Ciara’s career journey began at UCCS, where she started out studying biology. Shortly thereafter, she decided to switch gears and enrolled in the veterinary technician program at Front Range Community College. Upon completion, she moved to Lakewood and joined the Wadsworth Animal Hospital team in September of 2022. Ciara’s professional interests include parasitology, cardiology, and assisting with surgery.

Outside of the clinic, Ciara resides with her supportive husband Galen, their sassy husky, Tiger, and their two cats: Captain and Leo. Captain rules the roost, truly living up to his name, while lovable Leo enjoys chasing the laser pointer and can jump as high as the peep hole on the front door. Ciara’s favorite pastime is horseback riding, for which she routinely participates in competitions and recently received a First in Show award.

Daniel

Daniel

Certified Veterinary Assistant

Daniel has always had a passion for medicine and helping others. While he initially set out to pursue a career as a nurse, he quickly came to the realization that human medicine wasn’t quite the right fit for him. Initially terrified of animals thanks to a childhood encounter with an aggressive dog, Daniel overcame his fear, transitioned to vet med and has never looked back. Even if it’s something as simple as administering a vaccine, impacting the lives of animals is something Daniel takes great pride in.

In his role as Certified Veterinary Assistant, Daniel wears many hats and helps his colleagues in a variety of ways. He particularly enjoys assisting with surgery, which he says keeps him on his toes. He also has a special interest in client education and helping pet owners develop a health care plan that best suits their pets’ needs.

At home, Daniel has a menagerie of pets: Axel, a rescue dog who was once abused but has since transformed into a happy, healthy and loyal companion; a black cat named Pumpkin, who is full of spunk and sass. He also has two birds: a cockatiel named Crouton and a Green cheek conure named Penelope (a.k.a. Penny). Penny will spend all day on your shoulder making kissy noises as she presses her beak up against your cheek. Crouton prefers to be by himself most of the time, but tends to be more social when there’s music on.

In his spare time, Daniel enjoys playing video games and watching television with friends and family. He also likes to play basketball. Still, at the end of a long day, nothing brings him more peace and joy than spending quality time with his pets.

Jennifer

Jennifer

Veterinary Technician

A Colorado native, Jennifer Neuber has always had an affinity for helping animals. She especially enjoys watching puppies grow up and playing a role in keeping them healthy!

Jennifer was with her previous employer for more than 20 years. There, she started out working in the kennel area and worked her way up to Veterinary Technician and Assistant. She joined the Wadsworth team in 2020 and hasn’t missed a beat!

Jennifer is the mother of 6 and has 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a variety of exotics. In her (rare) free time, she enjoys reading and cooking.

Kazzi

Kazzi

Veterinary Technician

Kazzi grew up surrounded by animals – from dogs and cats to birds, iguanas, ferrets and sugar gliders. With each relationship, her love and passion for animal care grew stronger and she knew in her heart that she wanted to do whatever she could to help preserve the relationship from human to furry companion. It came as no surprise, then, that working with animals would ultimately become her career.

Kazzi’s journey began as a kitten foster. The first litter she received was gravely ill, and while two of the three sadly didn’t make it, one did – thanks to Kazzi’s patience and determination. Several litters later, she was promoted to the title of Kitten Coordinator, where she enjoyed pairing kittens with their “furever” homes. From there, she moved on to a receptionist role and worked her way up from assistant to technician. She joined the Wadsworth family in May of 2022.

On the job, Kazzi enjoys talking with clients and helping them understand the medical aspect of their pets’ health. There is always something new to learn in the veterinary field, and Kazzi loves being able to pass along that knowledge to other pet owners. Clinically, she has a special interest in veterinary dentistry and finds tremendous satisfaction in cleaning abscesses.

At home, Kazzi’s fur family consists of two sweet kitties: Ian and Lela. Ian was the lone survivor from her first fostered litter. Lela, another foster, got along so well with Ian that Kazzi decided she had to stay. Then there is Wigs – a tarantula who is sweet but still somewhat terrifying.

In her spare time, Kazzi likes to focus on her other passion: art – whether it’s animating, painting, watercolor, sewing, sculpting, or sketching. She loved art so much that she made a promise when she was a kid that she was going to graduate with an art degree. Kazzi officially graduated from RMCAD with a degree in 2D animation.

Marisa

Marisa

Veterinary Technician

Marisa has always had tremendous compassion for animals. When she landed her first job in the veterinary industry, she was under the impression that it would be all hugs and kisses from puppies and kittens. As her journey continued, however, she discovered something much deeper – that just like humans, animals have emotions and intimacy needs. Being able to help these incredible souls has become her life’s ambition.

Marisa has slowly but surely worked her way up to her role of veterinary technician. Clinically, she enjoys the different variety of animals she gets to work with every day, and seeks to gain a deeper understanding of medication and therapy. She is continuously amazed and inspired by how capable animals are of forgiving humans, regardless of their history or past experiences.

At home, Marissa is a pet mom to several of her own animal companions. Cucumber, an English bulldog, was bald, ill and aggressive when adopted, but through patience and plenty of TLC, has transformed into the queen bee of the home. Peaches is a Chihuahua who is kind, loving and red like a Cheeto. Monster, a senior pug, is wise and gray. Jane, also a pug, does nothing but eat and sleep. Salem, a French bulldog, is the newest addition and has boundless energy. Last, but not least, there is Roberto – an iguana who loves to sunbathe and will eat just about any vegetable in sight.

Shantell

Shantell

Veterinarian Technician

Throughout her entire life, Shantell has always had a soft spot for animals. When she was just a kid, a stray kitten wandered into her school. The faculty went to every classroom asking if anyone wanted to bring the kitty home. Shantell choked up at the thought that nobody wanted this precious baby, so of course she stepped up to the plate and brought her home. As a veterinary technician, Shantell loves being a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Following high school, Shantell got a job as a receptionist at a local animal ER. A year later, she was promoted to technician and began regularly assisting with emergency cases. She soon found herself wanting to work in a slower-paced environment, however, and decided to pivot to a general practice clinic. There she worked her way up from technician to practice manager. After relocating from Louisiana to Colorado, Shantell joined the Wadsworth Animal Hospital team. Professionally, she has a special interest in dental cleanings.

Outside of work, Shantell lives with her partner Dustin and their two dogs, Riot and Kyra, both of whom are gray pit bulls who love to eat, sleep, and repeat. In her spare time, Shantell enjoys roller skating – a passion that was ignited during Covid. Learning new tricks on skates is incredibly empowering, and she’s learned a lot about herself through the experience as well. Shantell also has an art business on the side, through which she makes beautiful displays that enable insects who have passed away to live on forever.

Chris

Chris

Receptionist

Chris Wham was born in the small river town of Chester, IL and grew up across the river in St. Charles, MO. The the oldest of 5 kids, Chris never really sought out the veterinary industry per se. After taking a father-son vacation to Colorado in 1999, he simply took the first job he could find. Now, more than two decades later, and he wouldn’t have it any other way!

Chris joined the Wadsworth Animal Hospital team in October 2020. In his role as rock star receptionist, he really enjoys meeting new people and their pets, and he treasures the many friendships he’s developed in his role over the years.

Chris currently resides in Denver with his 3 cats: Ollie, Chimney, and Stinky. Ollie is the trouble maker, Chimney is the lover, and Stinky, though pretty to look at, doesn’t smell very pleasant. Chris’ hobbies include playing trumpet, working on vintage motorcycles and exploring Colorado on his 1979 Triumph Bonneville.

Jessalynn

Jessalynn

Receptionist

People have their own personal reasons for entering the veterinary world. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in the field, Jessalynn Olivas has a relatively simple explanation: “I wanted to be closer to animals again.” As a receptionist at Wadsworth Animal Hospital, Jessalynn is the first friendly face that patients see when they walk in with their animals!

Jessalynn hails from Arvada, CO, where she grew up in a family that always had at least one dog in the household. Initially, Jessalyn’s goal was to attend veterinary school. She was accepted into the Colorado State University veterinary program, but had a change of heart and decided to pursue a career in the beauty field instead. Eventually, the veterinary world came calling again, and this time she answered.

For as long as Jesslynn can remember, she’s enjoyed being around all types of animals. She grew up watching shows like ER Vets, Crocodile Hunter and Animal Cops, and they all helped her cultivate a greater appreciation and deeper interest into the world of animals.

While Jesslynn has an affinity for all animals, dogs in particular are her absolute favorite. In fact, she loved them so much that she worked at a dog daycare for over 5 years. Little puppies and cheerful older canines in particular have a special place in her heart.

In her free time, Jessalynn enjoys spending time with her partner and her lovable Cane Corso named Gypsy Rose.
